The design concept for the Hilton Riverside New Orleans is an integration of Mississippi Riverboat "vernacular" and the local Southern port city of New Orleans.
The Riverboat scheme borrows from elements of nautical detailing, local architectural elements such as wrought iron and classical columns, and local flora. The design utilizes traditional materials brought together in a contemporary context. The guestroom captures the spirit of New Orleans and the hotel's Mississippi riverfront location.
The case goods details are inspired by nautical riverboat details, architecturally inspired wrought iron detailing, and locally woven cane chairs. The selected fabrics depict the tropical colors and abstracted detailing of the indigenous greenery, louvered window shutters, and textured walls reminiscent of French Quarter homes. A unique sheer drapery fabric resembles period netting from sleeping porches of plantation homes.
